I do the best I can in transcribing, not all pages are in terrific shape.  Please contact me with spelling corrections if you find any, I had to make spelling determinations and did the best I could.

The lay out of the pages are such:

Surname, First name, Address, Inside/Outside city limits, Gender, Age,

Race, Relation to Family, Place of Birth, Degree of Education, Owner or Renter, Occupation

Marion County: only had two precincts on this roll, they were 33 and 34. There are 12 pages for Precinct 33 and only 3 pages for Precinct 34. Both Transcribed.

Transcription completed 1 Jan 08.

Martin County: there are 8 precincts in this county, however PRECINCT 7 is listing as MISSING. As I got to the end of Precinct 1, I find handwritten pages, which include most all of the data that you see here. And then I come to realize that I notice duplicate typings. If you would like more info on these individuals I will look at the handwritten pages. It seems that the individual wrote all the data and then typed it so that it was neat. Only one precinct completed at this time.

Monroe County: has 10 precincts. As I progress through Precinct 1, the writing changes and it becomes a bit difficult to read. There are names that are ink smudged or the names are not written dark enough. There are alt names () and ~ or ?? marks in places when I have trouble reading the name. If there are corrections to names please contact me. The last page of precinct one is quite faded and I have done the best I could to transcribe it.

Nassau County: There are 14 Precincts for this county, however Precinct 4 is listed as MISSING. This precinct not unlike Monroe Co, had issues and transcription was done as well as possible.

Okaloosa County: There are 23 Precincts for Okaloosa County, the pages for Precinct 11 are listed as MISSING. Five precincts have been transcribed. Information here is very vague, that is why you see --, these were empty spaces. Spelling errors have occurred if you can help to provide a correct spelling please contact me and I will make the necessary corrections. If I see a particular surname and I know that it was spelled one way and then spelled another way down the page I left it as is. I have a page that says, "Count for Okaloosa 11,664". I can't tell you for sure if this is completely accurate but at least this gives an idea of how many people were considered to be residing in the county.

Precinct 5 has lots of severely faded pages.

Precinct 6 and 7 have lots of crossed out data and corrections.

Precinct 8 is very vague, does not list children as sons or daughters, spaces were empty.

Precinct 15 has many faded pages and rows on various pages, you will see lots of ~ and ?, there are lots of pages in this precinct and it has been a slow process.

Transcription Completed 2 Jun 2008

25 July 2008, at the end of precinct 7 in Okeechobee county I find one page that says Okaloosa County. Not sure how this page got there but it has been added to the end of Okaloosa County Precinct 7.

I have in my possession Evans Funeral Home Records Volumes 1 - 11

I bought this with the intent it might help me find a gggrandfather, this did not pan out so I thought I would help others and share the information

I have been informed that the next volumes (12 - 21) will be for sale in the near future and they can be purchased at the Baker Block Museum. A Big thanks to Mary W. for this info

Okeechobee County: There are 12 Precincts (see below) for this county, however Precincts 8, 9, and 10 are listed as MISSING. I have transcribed the first 3 precincts since there were only 8 pages between them. My intent at the present is to show people that the info is out there. I am working on other counties also, I will most likely come back and do other precincts but for right now I want to make sure that I assist all counties on this roll. I did 3 precincts due to the fact there was a small number of pages, and I felt that one precinct with 2 pages was not sufficient enough data to be posted.

25 July 2008: Please forgive me for the delay, Kentucky researchers seem to have come out of the woodwork here this past month and I have had to put off transcribing most of the month.

Precincts 1 thru 7 have been completed

28 July as I begin what is supposed to be Precinct 11, I read the pages and I see that they say Orange county on the top. As I read the top of the pages I am led to believe that whoever microfilmed the rolls misstated the county on the county start page. If there are any more Okeechobee I will post those pages. As of now Okeechobee is completed.

Orange County: There are only 2 Precincts on this roll for this county, they are 11 and 12! These are apparently long precincts. Precinct 11 pages are numbered and the last page was listed as the first (Pg 66). Page 66 is severely faded, and I typed what I could read. The other pages are faded but seem to be legible. I have transcribed the first 10 pages of this precinct.

Names have been typed in order as they were on the pages. I have made no attempts to sort out any families. Please do not ask me questions on families or personal research because I cannot help you. I may only be able to help with Okaloosa County, since that is where my Crawford family resided. Although I can help with Kentucky if you need help there. Jefferson County, that is. In about 8 years of researching I have acquired knowledge of resources pertaining to the Midwest.

Some of these precincts are very thorough in the fact the individual who took the information seemed to take the time to get full information, on the flip side some of the precincts are very vague and words were misspelled. In most cases I wrote the word that was written even though I know it is spelled incorrectly. I also find info for Newborns to be incorrect across the board. If a female is listed as male that is the way I wrote it!! I tried to follow the data as it was written even though I knew it was not correct.

Please contact me with spelling corrections if you find any. Many of the names were not written well or had been corrected and I had to make a spelling determination here.

I am disappointed with the data that was transcribed for African Americans, the individuals it seems did not bother to gather enough info and this really will not help those families. I do hope that at least the names shown here provide you with some sort of data, albeit very little.

For those who see that others offer help and never get a response back == I do this transcription. I greatly dislike it when others offer their services and don't keep on their promises. Not to make other volunteers angry, but not everyone keeps on their promises.

sorry for VENTING but I get so irritated!! This had to be said...

Basically I take matters into my own hands. I am lucky in the respects that someone donated to me a microfiche reader which I have rigged to read Microfilm. This sits next to my computer and I read and type.... My husband tolerates this crazy machine since he knows this is what I do for a hobby. My toddler tolerates it too, until he kicks me off the computer for his games.  "Mommies Research" can be done when Mikey says its ok.
